Farmers in North Yorkshire and the North East will have a new opportunity to develop their businesses this year through a project being run by the University of Teesside. The Food Technology Centre and Teesside Business School – both part of the University - have joined forces with the aim to help farmers keep profit on their side of the farm gate. Both have worked with many small businesses for a number of years and are now offering support specifically for farmers in the region. Click here for more information or contact Rebecca Buckingham at The Food Technology Centre on 01642 384624. |

Report prepared by Lantra on behalf of Defra. This report builds upon the conclusions of the Report on the Use of Training Groups to Promote the Uptake of Learning in Rural Communities (Lantra, 2004). That report identified that the main benefits of training groups (a collaborate group of businesses/individuals that come together for mutual benefits) are increased opportunities to share best practice and resources and reduced costs of training. Improving access to training and the social and community benefits were also seen as key. This current survey focussed how the training group network could be supported and extended across rural businesses. click to open. |
