Following publication of the Government’s Rural Strategy 2004, Defra asked each English Region to develop the arrangements to prioritise and co-ordinate activity, funding and delivery to rural communities. This has led to the production of the Yorkshire and The Humber Rural Framework (YHRF) which sets out the priorities for action to ensure these are targeted where needed at local level across the region, thus securing sustainable development outcomes. website link to the Governmnet Office of the Yorkshire and the Humber region.

The introduction of the Single Payment Scheme (SPS) has implications for every farmer and grower. Now that SPS is in place, farmers need to consider how they will adapt their businesses to meet the new challenges.
Farm Business Advice Service has been set up to provide free advice to farmers to help them to fully understand the impacts of the changes on their businesses and to help them adapt in order to ensure a secure farming future.
- Understand the implications of SPS.
- Recognise the financial impact of the changes on their enterprises and farming systems.
- Evaluate the potential of their skills and resources.
- Look at the options for new directions for the business.
This advice will be available to farmers which have applied for the Single Payment Scheme and delivered through a mixture of:
- Telephone contact
- Drop-in clinics to be held at convenient places for farmers
- Pre-arranged appointments at advisory clinics
- Farm events to be held throughout the regions
- Workshops and Group meetings
- One-to-one advice on the clients own farm
Advice is available through the website and regional help line, through meetings and clinics and through one to one advice with a farm business consultant. click here to go to the website |
