The five day Leeds Food and Drink Festival is organised by City Centre Leeds, in conjunction with Leeds City Council and the Leeds Restaurant Association.
With support from Marketing Leeds, the city’s strategic destination marketing company and The Leeds Guide, the festival aims to bring together many of the city’s most celebrated restaurants, food and drink producers, suppliers and retailers to showcase the range of high quality multi-cultural cuisine available in Leeds.
A packed week of activities is planned. Leeds Malmaison will host a ‘Meet the Producers’ event on 9th August when members of the public can talk to the brasserie’s local suppliers and taste their goods. Earlier the same day James Martin presents a series of Yorkshire day demonstrations in the cookery theatre on Briggate.
As part of the Festival’s commitment to education and healthy eating tutors from Leeds Thomas Danby College will be demonstrating how to make some nutritious dishes from fresh ingredients and encouraging budding young chefs to participate in practical cooking activities.
Presentations, samplings, food and drink matching, music and dancing bring the global flavours of Leeds vividly to life, with many of the city’s award winning restaurants and bars hosting special dinners, fixed priced menus and tastings of local produce during the festival.
