Ongoing diversification by rural estates into commercial property is a key factor in driving up total estate incomes and investment performance according to Savills Rural Rearch. Commercial workspace is an important and growing source of income on many rural estates. Savills’ estate benchmarking survey shows that it contributed 13% of gross income in 2006 compared with around 7% in 2000. There was some regional variation in activity which tailed off in the South East of England and rose in Yorkshire and Humberside during 2006. read more
