The Government recognises the importance of new entrants to farming to ensure the industry remains dynamic and innovative. Fresh Start is an industry-led initiative to encourage new entrants into farming whilst at the same time helping established farmers think about how they will respond to the challenges and opportunities of CAP reform . Defra has produced a range of leaflets and information packs as part of this initiative. Defra has worked closely with stakeholder partners, notably Sir Don Curry, Chair of the Implementation Group for Sustainable Farming and Food, to identify mechanisms to help new entrants into farming. As a result, Sir Don Curry has pulled together a package of measures entitled 'Fresh Start' to which Defra has committed its support.
